Trinidad Carnival 2012: SUNDAY LIME!

Seems many bands had costume drama (Bliss complaints bout sizes, YUMA complaints bout various tings, my band - D'Krewe - was HELLA late with the costumes and messed up my schedule for when to be done with that so I could be uploading pics and liming and other things!...I mean 2 and 3 times coming back to sort it out, and heard a certain large band's shipments of brassieres/etc had issues and they had a last minute re-order that was killing availability of things and hands for other bands.)  So end result is I ended up collecting final parts of costume and j'ouvert package as well on Sunday.

The last fete, Puro Blanco all-white boatride, was cancelled (I'll be sticking to established events after this or better yet skipping doing anything Sunday and use it for a nice lime and tying of last minute loose ends before j'ouvert).  So we (me and my clients and some people I helped get sorted out and prepared for carnival that were seated next to me on the plane on the way down... they were really a little clueless as to how un-ready they were, only thing they had sorted out was Girl Power and costumes) went to lime on Ariapita at Sweet Lime.  We looked really good in that all-white, no boatride necessary it was just a nice look and a nice lime!  Most of us actually ate before we got to Sweet Lime (and I wish I could remember the name of where we got the food in the pictures from, they were DELICIOUS!).  Also cool was taking in the sights and sounds of Ariapita Avenue on the way to Sweet Lime, including kids in costume. :)

Customer service so bad at Sweet Lime I had to help get orders, help get orders STRAIGHT, aaaand help SERVE our orders lol but I felt bad for the poor girl serving cause it was about 10 of us (I think it went up to 11 before the night was out) and one of her for what seemed to be the ENTIRE restaurant and she obviously needed help...even she said is like I work there. I had 2 Sweet Limers (non-alcoholic and quite refreshing) and a Banana Brace...or something suh (definitely alcoholic and sweet)...NICE lime, nuff jokes, and the place was full to the brim!

Some of Eloquence, Inc.'s Trinidad Carnival 2012 clients (except first 2 on the right)

As always, videos are coming but are MUCH slower behind the pics...haven't even gotten all the Scorch ones up yet, bear with me they are coming to the Eloquence, Inc. YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/eloquenceinc!

Trinidad Carnival 2012: INSOMNIA fete review and pics!

Insomnia...wicked as always...got there in time for Machel, in time for the WATER HOSES (favourite part *smile*) and got TOTALLY soaked especially up by the stage! Throw wine on cute man throw wine on big man throw wine on man that remember me from LAST YEAR Insomnia (how???? my hair totally different him still remember!), throw wine on man in wheelchair (is a row of them in there wth going on there? but all in good fun!)...throw wine on man who said "I never wine a Jamaican gyul before yuh know, allyuh could wine?" ...and they chose that moment play suppen like Buckets...a who tell dem haha I was about to walk past cause i was headed somewhere but I smiled sweetly, turned my back to him, and let him have it...his friends laughing at him for biting off more than he could chew by time di song done. Smiled sweet again and walked off. lol

Had doubles in the fete from the feistiest doubles GYAL ever, who want to serve man who not even in the line but want to fold up and screw face like ME a cut line when I reach out to take the next one she put down...even other girls in line who louder (and meaner) than me race her up and tell her I been in line long time just like them and is only one i want what she carrying on suh for. Cause most people in line was getting all 5 and 6 one time fi dem an dem friends. hm.

Insomnia always wicked... outside waiting on taximan to find me, some car across the way BLASTING Swappi's "Bubble On A DJ"...I normally don't like soca that have a similar vybe to dancehall but Swappi sick mi body wid it dis year man couldn't help it...song drive me CRAAAZY only ting get mi worse for 2012 is BUCKET...taxi shows up, as i go to get in some young (and CUTE!) maxi driver come rush mi bout where am i going he will take me straight to the door. I said that's okay i paid this one already. He said no you didn't I saw you the whole time you were across the street...i was like wait just how the hell long was dude WATCHING me? So i told him i paid the taxi roundtrip on the way UP...he said okay what's your number. lol I said ohhh is THAT you wanted all this time he said YES what you doing tonight?

Swappi's fault the man get a show...song maddddd...

KNOCKED out in the car. Taxi man nice enough to remember i needed to stop by pharmacy for Icy Hot, him wake me up cause I would not have remembered. Love that taxi driver...and I told his boss how great he was too!

Videos slowly but surely coming to Eloquence, Inc.'s YouTube page!

Trinidad Carnival 2012: SCORCH fete review and pics!

FINALLY we get to the pictures and videos of one of the biggest celebrations on earth!  All the individual posts will be collected at the end into one big Trinidad Carnival 2012 Superpost just like the 2011 collection, but check back each day for updates here and on Eloquence, Inc.'s YouTube!

(Soca Monarch pics and vids not sorted yet)

Scorch...WICKEDEST FETE EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR what!!!!! The wait to get inside and the b.s. they were on with issuing their fancy schmancy "email only" tickets had me thinking not me again any year after this...got inside and forgot ALL BOUT DAT. lol. From the girls on pole dancing and beside her trying to get me drunk off apple and banana flavored puncheon shots (i say a little she says "noooo have MORE!" and pours the thing to the top...and refills right after i try one! smh)...to the goodlooking people all bout...to the food and drinks and drinks and drinks...to the dancefloor, the HYPE AS HELLLL dj's (hypa hoppa, dj private ryan, and many other shirtless eye candy keeping the vibes well hot on stage), the music...and one of them dj's kept picking random girls to pour whatever he had in his bottle down their throat...somebody tell me turn around and he wanted to pour it down my throat lol. ;) So the music had to lock off per police at midnight... "so when yuh feel seh di soca done, well is more soca to come...when yuh feel seh di wining done, well is MORE WINING TO COME" out come rhythm section and people animal instincts take OVER bwoy lol. One of the drummers motion me to come over by him an him jussa wine wid me an drum same time...another girl come join us an mi tell him him TALENTED to manage both of us and STILL hitting dem drums hard!

Good times, good times...yaadies came out and repped in that fete too, anywhere one of us heard the accent or saw our flag (male or female) we hail each other up.

Oh yeah and BEENIE MAN walked into the fete like nutten...only a small entourage too!

I can't say enough good things about that fete.

It made me late for Insomnia.

And I normally put nothing before Insomnia. :)

Went home, caught a nap, should have set my alarm cause was suppose to nap 1 hour, it turn into 4...what i should have done was nap in the car on the way straight to Insomnia cause that was a nex 1.5 hours of time wasting just trying to GET there!

Jamaica Carnival 2012: Season Officially Underway With BacchanalJamaica's 2012 Theme FUTURE SHOCK!

JAMAICA CARNIVAL 2012 ROAD MARCH IS SUNDAY APRIL 15, 2012

Jamaica Carnival 2012 season is in full swing!  And it's better than ever and getting better still!
Stay tuned to Eloquence, Inc. on Facebook for updates!

So what's going on for 2012?

Soca sessions now happening in Kingston EVERY weekend starting last night courtesy of Island Mas Jamaica (price in JAMAICAN dollars!):

But Kingston is only where it starts and ends! Over the 12 weeks between January 28 and April 13, Jamaica All-Island Carnival will be bringing the whole country roving fetes with LIVE performances from soca artists to places including St. Mary, Portland, Negril, Linstead, St. Thomas, St. Elizabeth, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and May Pen, and ending with a "blowout" j'ouvert fete April 13, 2012!  Makes you want to be in Jamaica doesn't it?
The Saturday before Jamaica Carnival Road March (official parade) Island Mas Jamaica brings us one of my favourite ways to party: a WET FETE!

But I know you want to know WHERE ARE THE COSTUMES?

Pics courtesy LiveStush and BacchanalJamaica.  More later stay tuned!

My favourite section missing from that pic though (the female anyway):

Section Name: Encleadus

Check out all other sections by clicking here.

Please note the new mas camp:

Bacchanal Jamaica!

And for those of you who want to stand out from the crowd with a backpack or other frontline-style customization or need a monokini option or something else not currently provided by Bacchanal Jamaica, LehWeGo Frontline now customizes your Jamaica Carnival costumes for an additional fee!  Backpacks, collars, corsets, wings, large headpieces, tiaras, etc. See sample picture of their work from their blog site below!

For example, you can wear what everyone else is wearing for Bacchanal Jamaica's 2012 section Belt of Orion:

Or you can have LehWeGo frontline take it up a notch for you (second and third pictures courtesy of Trinidad's mas bands YUMA and TRIBE respectively):

actual work done by LehWeGo Frontline

They also do boots, although my standing recommendation for wicked boot design is Eloquence, Inc.'s designer, Niecy's Custom Designs out of New York (see one of her designs below)!

Ladies (and gentlemen) why do you want customizations?  To bring out the spirit of who you ARE for carnival...and to hide trouble spots so you look your fabulous BEST on the road and for the cameras!

SUGGESTIONS (for this and ANY carnival) as to what options work for what issue:

LOWER BELLY/C-SECTION:  Monokini (like this one or this one from Trinidad's Bliss or this one from Trinidad's Spice)
UPPER BELLY: Tankini, corset (like this one from Trinidad's D'Krewe), bustier
OBLIQUES ("SPARE TIRES"): corset, bustier, or a monokini designed like this one from Trinidad's D'Krewe
BOTTOM/BACK OF LEGS: Bustle (some kind of extra tail piece like this one from Trinidad's D'Krewe)
UPPER BACK: wings (like this one from Trinidad's Fantasy), backpack (like this one from Trinidad's D'Krewe)
(MEN'S WINGS): like this one from Trinidad's TRIBE
(MEN TOO) SECTION HEADPIECE TOO SMALL: large headpiece (like this one from Trinidad's YUMA and their larger headpiece for males like this one)
UPPER ARMS: wings
CHEST: neckpiece like this one from Trinidad's YUMA...photo courtesy of Trinidad Carnival Diary's Facebook page

And SO many more options...if you can imagine it, you can find a way to make it happen for Jamaica Carnival (or any carnival where the standard offerings tend to not include options that suit you) with LehWeGo Frontline!

If you would like your Jamaica Carnival trip planning details handled from start to finish without the hassle of running around yourself, by all means get in touch with Eloquence, Inc.: eloquence.inc@gmail.com or (404) 590-1882!

P.S. Jamaica's own Yendi Phillips (Miss Jamaica Universe 2010 and Miss Universe 2010 1st runner up) will be playing mas with the section Robotica!  Info and pic courtesy of Digicel.

Trinidad Carnival 2012: Costume Distribution Schedules!

Courtesy the various bands' Facebook pages/websites.  Distribution starts as early as TOMORROW (YUMA) so pay close attention to your band's schedule!

Foreigners arriving after the day their section is scheduled for distribution or worse, late on a Saturday, make sure to either arrange for someone to pick up your costume for you (follow the band's instructions on what this person must have from you to pick up your costume!) and/or contact the band and sort it out ASAP!

Also, the costume list has been updated to include Roam Mas, a very affordable band with some hot costumes!
