YUMA VIBE PRE CARNIVAL FAQs

by Yuma Vibe on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 3:32pm
  • Hi YUMAs! You guys suggested an FAQ section of our FB page so we are pleased to launch it. We know we won't have every question answered here but we have been working to always provide swift and accurate answers to your queries. We really want to thank all the YUMAs who have taken the time to assist in providing information and  to everyone who has helped make this page so information and...dare we say it...FUN. Here are some recent FAQs that may help answer the questions on YUMA.

  • Is YUMA sold out?  - Due to the overwhelming response from the public YUMA is completely sold out. We are a smaller band so costumes were limited. Thanks to all for the support!

  •  Is YUMA entering competition, crossing various stages? - The guiding bodies overseeing carnival have not officially announced all the judging points or confirmed the final route. YUMA wants to be compliant and, at the same time provide an enjoyable on the road experience for masqueraders. YUMA will be sharing this information with registered masqueraders much closer to Carnival - most likely at distribution. We have been clear that we are about having a great time and on keeping the party on the road moving. More info to come to our masqueraders soon. Note, we thank all for the interest but we really are focusing on keeping stormers out of the band so, we won't be posting details of our route on this page.

  • When is costume collection? The exact dates and times for costume collection will be shared via the media, Facebook and the YUMA page. We have indicated this will take place around the last week in February - specific dates, times and location to be shared soon.

  • What do I need to collect someone else's costume that I purchased?
If you have bought a costume from someone else/ are collecting on their behalf, you will need to present 2 copies of each of the following 3 items:
1) ID from the seller (must be registered)
2) signed letter from the seller authorizing you (with your name and ID number stated in the letter) to collect o...n their behalf due to resale
3) ID for yourself (buyer)
Note: Be sure the costume will fit you. No size swaps or section swaps will be facilitated.

  • Will there be on site costume adjustment at collection for costumes that are the sizes we ordered but do not fit?  YUMA is going to great lengths to ensure the sizes ordered will be provided to each registered masquerader. As such, there will not be on site costume adjustment at collection.

  • Why should I pay off for my costumes before collection? This is recommended for the masquerader that wants a faster costume collection process. Paying off early ensures 1) you can access a faster line for collection 2) you have a paid in full receipt ensuring all your costume "extras" have been ordered and paid for (example: boy shorts). Payments are accepted at the mas camp - 12 Alcazar St.

  • How can I pay the balance of my costume? Costume balance payments may be made via LINX or CASH ONLY at the mas camp at 12 Alcazar St. Foreign masqueraders may either wait until collection or work with a local person to pay off for your costume.

  • I have lost/ gained weight and need a different costume size - can YUMA help? Costumes will be distributed only in the sizes ordered. Size swaps MAY only be possible upon COMPLETION of distribution SHOULD any costumes be available (note - this is not guaranteed).

  • I am a section leader, but have not been called for a fitting, what can I do? - Only FRONTLINE masqueraders for sections with MONOKINIS (Virgo, Leo, Scorpio) or Wire Bras (Cancer) will be asked to come in to the mas camp to fit their costumes. If you are registered in this section (as an original masquerader) and have not been called, please email the camp. Fittings will only be done for a stipulated period (varies by section).

  • I live abroad but am a section leader, can I fit my costume after I collect it? - All frontline masqueraders in sections with Monokinis or wire bras were asked to provide specific measurements to assist in making a costume that will fit comfortably. Fittings are not necessary. Only those frontline masqueraders available to come in to fit on the dates of the section fittings (through 3rd week in January 2011) will be fit for costumes.

  • I am an individual, when do I collect? Individuals need to email the camp for specific information

  • Where will YUMA  meet on Carnival Monday and Tuesday?Information to be provided in the masquerader booklet

  • What is the Monday wear? When will it be posted on Facebook? YUMA's Monday wear will include a top and shorts for females and a top for men. The colours will be very similar to your costumes. Further details MAY be made available however, to avoid stormers in the band, this will not be shared until much closer to Carnival.

  • Do I have to wear my costume? YUMA is focused on providing a secure experience on the road. Security will be tight. You can and will be asked to not only show your band but may be asked to verify your costume as a YUMA original - details at costume collection. We strongly suggest you wear your YUMA costume (we want to look great on the road!) and to avoid unnecessary security checks

  • What's the deal with YUMA's party? YUMA will host an event for Carnival 2011 on February 26th. The Venue, details and costs will be shared via this page. All efforts are being made to host an event that will be memorable and not budget busting.

  • Why does YUMA keep talking about no stormers - it seems rude.  YUMA is very appreciative of all the interest in the band, our page and the positive vibes. We are committed to working to provide a positive road experience and part of that means telling all (masqueraders and non masqueraders) that our security will be tight and persons not registered in the band will be asked to leave. Some information will also be reserved for registered masqueraders and not shared via the page. We don't mean to offend anyone, we just want to be as clear as possible in advance about our non tolerance for non masqueraders in the band.

  • Is there a waiting list for costumes? YUMA has no more costumes for sale and is not reserving costumes.

  • What if I can't collect my costume by the last day of distribution?Any costumes not collected by the last day of distribution become the property of YUMA. The deposits for these costumes will be forfeited.
More questions? Post them on the page. We'll add them to this list and do our best to keep the list updated. Thanks for the ideas YUMAs!
